E-Filing
E-filing functionality will feature at a later stage in the development of this website.
Users with the appropriate permission will be able to initiate new cases or advance
existing cases using the e-filing section of the web site. The case initiation screen
will prompt the user for all case party names and addresses together with other
pertinent information. A subsequent screen will facilitate uploading of one or more
documents to be associated with the case. The filing process will be authenticated
by certification and the appropriate levels of confidentiality will be assured (depending
on whether the proceedings are public, private or require the imposition of restricted
access).
The e-filing system being contemplated will be designed to interoperate and integrate
with the Judicial Enforcement Management System (JEMS) case management software
that is used by the Judicial Administration. This module will be written using Microsoft
ASP.NET v2.0 and will make use of web services to manage the process over the Internet.
Users will be required to subscribe for the e-filing service and the appropriate
filing fees now applicable will continue to apply. Each case filed would not be
transferred to the JEMS system until the appropriate payments have been made for
the filing of the case and associated documents.
It is expected that court users will benefit significantly from the costs, time and
effort to be saved by the electronic filing of documents.
It will also be possible to make electronic searches of the areas of the records
of the Courts’ Registries which will be publicly available.
